1.Try the password ‘12345’.It is default password for all Nokia phone security keyguard.
2.If it did not work try to regain password you changed and try entering by switch off –on your phone.

Below is method which is suggested me by Nokia help desk
First type 11111 then 22222 up to 99999 repeating for 3, 4, 5,6,7,8 digits finally 00000.
Then take battery out and wait a good 10 minutes this resets the code. Turn your phone on and repeat the same process above in the same order and wait 10 more minutes. Once turn it on it will ask for your security code. As you have followed the steps the code will now be to the default of ‘12345’ then enter your new code to change it.

If all the above did not work then contact retailer or Nokia help desk to get it unlocked.

Error 80244019 When Updating Windows Vista

Every time the update would fail with Error 80244019. This error message indicates there is a problem reaching the update server, however this explanation does not make sense since other computers on my network including another Vista machine can access the Internet and update properly.

First of all, you want to make sure your computer can reach the Internet and view other web pages. Open a web browser and go to a website listed in your favorites or type a website URL into the address bar of your browser and verify that you can load a web page. If you can, please skip down this page to the section entitled DNSChanger Trojan

Troubleshooting a Dead Network Connection

If you cannot open a web page on your computer or reach the Internet, you'll want to follow this outline to narrow the problem and get yourself back online. This information is the same basic info that I recommend for the dreaded Limited or No Connectivity issues as well. Check the following issues.

1) Your Network or DSL router
may have bad or missing information. Powercycle your router and/or rebuild the configuration in your router.

2) Double-check your cabling to the computer. Make sure you have the correct type of cabling, straight-through CAT 5 or possibly a crossover cable. Try another cable or test the cable to make sure its working properly.

3) Check your network card to make sure its configured correctly and working properly. Many times setting the network card to 10Mbps/Full Duplex will solve this issue. To do this, open Control Panel, System, Device Manager. Go to the properties of the Network card, click on the Advanced tab and find the Link Speed and Duplex section. Change it from Auto Detect to 10Mbps/Full Duplex.

4) Check and test your firewall. Your firewall, especially if its a software
firewall like Zone Alarm, Black Ice, Norton Firewall or something else could be blocking the connection. Disable your firewall and test the connection. You may have to resolve the problem by even uninstalling and reinstalling the firewall.

5) Check your IP address assignments and workgroup settings in the computer for accuracy. Statically assign IPs to the computers in your network.

6) Reset your TCP/IP stack by downloading and running WinsockXPFix.exe a Visual Basic program designed to fix corrupted TCP/IP issues, host file problems and a variety of other connectivity issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please proceed. On many sites on the web, there was a solution posted that referenced a registry entry located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU. From my investigation this registry entry generally does not exist and therefore does not fix the problem. However, in a few cases, the system has been infected with the DNSChanger trojan.

DNSChanger Trojan

One of the most common problems associated with Windows Vista Update Error 80244019 is the DNSChanger Trojan. You'll recognize this trojan by checking the DNS server assignments on the computer that does not update. Do this by following these steps.

1) In Windows Vista, click on the Windows orb

2) Click in the Search box and type CMD and press Enter

3) At the command prompt, type IPCONFIG /ALL and press Enter

4) You should be presented with the bunch of information, find the section for your Internet connection. It may be entitled Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection or something similar.

5) Find the DNS Server section and double-check the numbers. Usually the DNS is a local IP like 192.168.0.1 or it could be a statically assigned IP from your ISP. If the DNS numbers are remotely similar to the following IPs then you have the DNSChanger trojan.

6) Type Exit at the command prompt to close it.

How to I Remove Bonzi Buddy?

BonziBUDDY is easily removed following these instructions:

1) First you need to close the Bonzi Buddy Program. Click on Bonzi and say "Goodbye" to close him. Next, Right-click on the dollar sign icon next to your clock and choose "Exit."

2) Now click on Start > Programs > BonziBUDDY > Uninstall BonziBUDDY Bargain Hunting Tool and allow the uninstall program to finish.

3) Go to Start > Programs > BonziBUDDY > Uninstall BonziBUDDY and allow the uninstall program to complete.

4) Finally, restart your computer.

Sometimes the uninstall is not successful because a manual removal was tried previously, or a key file was deleted that the uninstall process needs. In these cases, reinstall the Bonzi Buddy software and then proceed with a normal uninstall shown above.

There is no need to delete any files first. All you need to do is visit

Problem : I have Inspiron 1545 and I've installed the latest available "Windows 7 Ultimate", but the OS could not detect the Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module.

The Nokia N95 bluetooth finds the laptop bluetooth module, but there is no reaction from the Windows 7 OS. There is no Bluetooth device in the "Device Manager".

Solution :

I recently had the same problem with my fathers Inspirons 1545 bluetooth driver.

Well, what I did worked. It'll probably work with you too.

Get your Resource DVD (with the original drivers). When the Resource program opens, select Windows XP 64 and install the bluetooth driver (Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module Rev: A04).

Backup and Restore Your OE Mail, News and Settings

Manual Backup:

Your safest bet is to move the OE Mail Store to a new folder, on a different partition, if available and export a few Registry keys to back up all your settings.

1) In Outlook Express, go to Tools, Options, Maintenance. Select the Store Folder button. Change the location of the OE Mail and News store folder to a drive/partition/folder that will not be affected by the uninstall or re-install. This is especially true if you plan to reformat the system drive. You will be prompted to log off/back on, or reboot, do so. For a small utility that will locate, and optionally open your mail store folder.
2) Do a Find on *.wab and copy all WAB files to a folder on the same drive/partition you used in Step 1. This can even be the same folder that you moved the Mail Store to (recommended).

3) Open Regedit and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name. Modify the value to point to the folder you copied your WAB file to.

NOTE: If you only have one available partition, complete steps 1 through 3. Then backup the contents of the folder(s) that you moved the Mail Store and WAB files to. This can be to floppy media, CR-R/RW or whatever you prefer.

4) Now export the following 4 Registry keys to a location that will be available after your reinstall, or whatever (a floppy will work for the REG files). If you're going back to a Windows 9X OS, you need to ensure you select Win9x/NT4 in the Save as type pull down.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Account Manager
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name

5) Uninstall XP and/or reinstall your desired OS.

NOTE: DO NOT open Outlook Express until you completed this procedure

6) Recreate the folder(s) you used in steps 1 and 2, making sure the path is the same. NOTE: If you were required to backup your Mail and WAB files to other media, you can restore them now.

7) Open Regedit and delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities key.

8) Locate the 4 REG files you exported in Step 3 and import them into the Registry.

9) Open OE and enjoy.

Note: Your passwords for mail and news accounts will have to be reentered. These are not saved in the Registry.

How to Share OE over Multiple Operating Systems

Start in Win98, open OE and use tools/options/maintenance to move the OE store folder to a share drive (*Note*, this drive must use the same drive letter in both OS's, while Win98 will not allow you to reletter drives, WinXP will, so plan accordingly).

Once you have it moved to a "share" drive, click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT. Navigate to each of these keys and do a file/export of the key to the share drive (call each whatever you wish):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Account Manager
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express

For the address book:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name

Once this is accomplished, restart in WinXP. Before starting OE, open REGEDIT and go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities Right click on the Identities sub key and select Delete. Then locate the 4 REG files you exported in the steps above and double click each one to import them into the XP Registry. Answer yes to the import prompt.

Note for the personal e-mail: If you're exporting the keys from XP to 98, then you need to ensure that you select Win9x/NT4 in the Save as type dialog. After completing this, OE should open up with the same settings, folders, mail, and news as you had in Win98.

Note: This works in reverse as well if you prefer to use the WinXP settings, however, when you export and save the WinXP registry keys, you must change the file type from .reg to Win9x/NT4 reg file.

How to Share OE (Mail/News/Address Book) between Users in Windows XP

If you don't mind having Signatures, Rules and all the other settings the same, this method works.

From the user account that is already set up: Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT

Locate the following 4 branches of the Registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Account Manager
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name

Right click on each branch above and select Export and save the REG files to your hard drive.

For each account you want to have the same mail settings, log into that account. Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT. Locate the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities branch, right click it and select Delete. Next open Windows Explorer and locate the 4 REG files you saved above. Double click each one and answer yes to the import prompt.

Now you can open OE in any of the User accounts, and all the settings, accounts, will be the same. This was tested with the Mail and News Store on a FAT32 drive. I can't guarantee it will work on an NTFS drive.

Note: You will need to re-enter the passwords for mail and news group accounts.

Note2: If you use Signatures, you should put them in a text file and change OE's settings to use them. Signatures are often corrupted during the import. This is due to the Unicode storage of the signatures in the Registry.

Sharing the Outlook Express Address Book in Windows XP

While logged on to the user's desktop that has the address book you want to use: Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT:

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name

Note the path to the WAB file in the (Default) entry. Log into the other desktop and open REGEDIT there. Navigate down to the same location as above. Double click the entry for (Default) and make it match the entry for the first user.

A US hacker who gained notoriety for unlocking Apple's iPhone as a teenager has told BBC News that he has now hacked Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3).

George Hotz said the hack, which could allow people to run pirated games or homemade software, took him five weeks.

He said he was still refining the technique but intended to post full details online soon.

The PS3 is the only games console that has not been hacked, despite being on the market for three years.

"It's supposed to be unhackable - but nothing is unhackable," Mr Hotz told BBC News.

"I can now do whatever I want with the system. It's like I've got an awesome new power - I'm just not sure how to wield it."

Sony said it was "investigating the report" and would "clarify the situation" when it had more information.

'Open curiosity'

Mr Hotz said that he had begun the hack last summer when he had spent three weeks analysing the hardware.

After a long break, he spent a further two weeks cracking the console, which he described as a "very secure system".

He said that he was not yet ready to reveal the full details of the hack but said that it was "5% hardware and 95% software".

"You can use hardware to inject an insecurity and then you can build on that," he said.

He admitted that he had not managed to hack the whole system, including the protected memory, but had worked out ways to trick the console into doing what he wanted.

Mr Hotz said that he was continuing to work on the hack and, once finished, would publish details online in a similar way to his previous iPhone exploits.

In particular, he said, he would publish details of the console's "root key", a master code that once known would make it easier for others to decipher and hack other security features on the console.

He said his motivation was "curiosity" and "opening up the platform".

Just add it too "SEND TO" !!!

Do as follows :

** Open any FOLDER.
** Then, TOOLS >> Folder Options
** Click view TAB.
** In LIST of Advance Settings, click Show hidden files and folders !
** Now, go to C:\Documents and Settings
** Here, double click and open your (username) folder !
** Now, open SendTo folder.
** Here copy and paste the shortcut of your favorite folder.

That's Done !!!

Now, tranfer files to your favorite folder :

** Right Click the file
** Then, Send To
** Click the folder name !

Malignant mesothelioma is an uncommon, but no longer rare, cancer that is difficult to diagnose and poorly responsive to therapy. Malignant mesothelioma is the most serious of all asbestos-related diseases.

A layer of specialized cells called mesothelial cells lines the chest cavity, abdominal cavity, and the cavity around the heart. These cells also cover the outer surface of most internal organs. The tissue formed by these cells is called mesothelium.

The mesothelium helps protect the organs by producing a special lubricating fluid that allows organs to move around. For example, this fluid makes it easier for the lungs to move inside the chest during breathing. The mesothelium of the chest is called the pleura and the mesothelium of the abdomen is known as the peritoneum. The mesothelium of the pericardial cavity (the "sac-like" space around the heart) is called the pericardium.

Tumors of the mesothelium can be benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous). A malignant tumor of the mesothelium is called a malignant mesothelioma. Because most mesothelial tumors are cancerous, malignant mesothelioma is often simply called mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma was recognized as a tumor of the pleura, peritoneum and pericardium in the late 1700's. However it was not until much later, in 1960, that this particular type of tumor was described in more detail and even more importantly, its association with asbestos exposure was recognized. The first report linking mesothelioma to asbestos exposure was written by J.C.Wagner, and described 32 cases of workers in the "Asbestos Hills" in South Africa. Since then, the relationship between mesothelioma and asbestos exposure has been confirmed in studies around the world.

The incidence of mesothelioma in the United States remains very low, with 14 cases occurring per million people per year. Despite these numbers, the noticed threefold increase in mesothelioma in males between 1970 and 1984, is directly associated with environmental and occupational exposure to asbestos, mostly in areas of asbestos product plants and shipbuilding facilities.

Although the disease is much more commonly seen in 60-year-old men, it has been described in women and early childhood as well. The cause of the disease is not so well understood in these latter two groups, but there is some evidence of possible asbestos exposure for some of these cases as well.

Malignant mesothelioma is divided into three main types. About 50% to 70% of mesothelioma occurrences are the epithelioid type. This type has the best prognosis (outlook for survival). The other two types are the sarcomatoid type (7%-20%), and the mixed/biphasic type (20%-35%). Treatment options for all three types are the same.

About three-fourths of mesothelioma occurrences start in the chest cavity and is known as pleural mesothelioma. Another 10% to 20% begin in the abdomen and is called peritoneal mesothelioma. Pericardial mesothelioma, starting in the cavity around the heart, is very rare. The covering layer of the testicles is actually an outpouching of peritoneum into the scrotum. Mesothelioma that affects this covering of the testicles is quite rare.

While Google has made its Music search more subtle along with its Search Engine, Yahoo seems to do a better job with it. Taking a closer look I realized this was not at all surprising considering Yahoo Music, a beta product was being promoted with the search results.

The first thing that is striking is the way there are links to listen to music. Most of these links allowed me to listen toSongs through Rhapsody. There is also another link to listen to more songs. This leads you directly to the Yahoo Music page. This is still in beta stage and I think later on Yahoo might push the service more aggressively.

Music are also something that is crucial to sell music and I could look up related videos of my search query. This looked a lot similar to how Google Searchdeals with music queries. I wonder who got inspired by whom.

Finally to the left there are related links to Wikipedia, VH1, Rhapsody and Last fm. This is where Yahoo Search will be looking to monetize this search feature with tie ups with Rhapsody. This enables the user to buy music online.

Microsoft says turn off Windows feature to protect Windows

There's no real reason for SMB2, (Server Message Block 2), a Microsoft network file and print-sharing protocol that ships with Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7, to exist. All it does is duplicate the basic network file and print functionality that Windows has provided for over a decade. But, SMB2 is in there, it is broken, and, now it can be used to take over PCs.
Microsoft admits that the problem is real. Mark Wodrich and Jonathan Ness, part of the MSRC (Microsoft Security Response Center) engineering team wrote that an experimental exploit is already out and that it can gain "complete control of the targeted system and can be launched by an unauthenticated user." Just what you didn't need.

There is a way to fix it. Well, sort of. You have to turn SMB2 off. You can do that the hard way, by editing the Windows' registry, or, the easy way, by clicking on this "Fix it" link from a Vista, Server 2008, or pre-RTM versions of Windows 7 PC. But, if you do, and you use SMB2 to connect to network drives or printers, you're also going to lose the ability to use any of them. That will go over big in many businesses.

You can still use network drives and the like with SMB, and, if you're using Server 2003 or earlier servers or Samba servers for sharing files and printers, you're already using the older, more reliable and secure protocol. Only people who've moved entirely to Microsoft's latest and greatest network sharing protocol are in trouble.

If that's you, you should be OK because, by default, Server 2008 should fall back to SMB if SMB2 isn't available. I'd try the fix first on test Vista and Windows 7 PCs before rolling out the fix to all the client PCs. You don't want to start Monday morning, after all, by locking everyone out of their files.

If you're not using SMB2, you should still run the Microsoft 'Fix.' SMB2 is on by default in all three versions of Windows that it used on. Even if you don't use networking at all except to connect to the Internet, you should still turn off SMB2. Chances are your PC firewall-you are running one right?--will stop any attack using SMB2, but why take a chance?

The ironic thing about all this is that the real reason that Microsoft moved to SMB2, according to Wikipedia, is that they wanted a protocol that they didn't have to share with Samba or anyone else. Too bad on their own Microsoft couldn't get it right.

On my own computer network, which includes Vista, Windows 7, and Server 2008, I turn off Microsoft's recent network 'improvements' since they tend to get in the way of connecting with Samba-based servers and NAS (network attached storage) devices and even older versions of Windows. I have yet to see any problems coming from sticking with Windows' older networking protocols.

Microsoft assures users, as usual, that they'll issue a real fix real soon now. I'm not holding my breath. If all goes well you can expect to see a real fix by Patch Tuesday, the first Tuesday of the month, in October.

Indian village with 250 sets of twins

Doctors are trying to unravel the mystery of an Indian village boasting 250 sets of twins born to just 2,000 families.

The phenomenon has seen almost six times as many twins born than the global average in the remote village of Kodinhi, in Kerala.

In 2008 alone 15 pairs of twins were born in the village out of 300 healthy deliveries and this year is expected to top that number.

In the last five years alone up to 60 pairs of twins have been born, with the rate of twins increasing year-on-year.

Local doctor and twin enthusiast Dr Krishnan Sribiju has been studying the medical marvel of Kodinhi for the past two years.

Although 250 sets of twins have been officially registered in the village Dr Sribiju believes the real number to be far higher.

"In my medical opinion there are around 300 to 350 twins within the village boundaries of Kodinhi," he said.

"What is fascinating is the increasing numbers of twins with each passing year, so much so that I feel in the past ten years the number of twins in Kodinhi has doubled."

According to villagers, the twin phenomenon only started occurring three generations ago.

Dr Sribiju said: "To the best of my knowledge this medical marvel began somewhere between 60 to 70 years ago.

"Without access to detailed biochemical analysis equipment I cannot say for certain what the reason for the twinning is, but I feel that it is something to do with what the villagers eat and drink.

"If that is the case then maybe whatever is causing this exceptional level of twinning can be bottled and provide help for infertile couples." Categorising the twin phenomenon as a naturally occurring anomaly, Dr Sribiju has ruled out genetic factors as the cause due to the localised nature of the village.

He also dismisses any suggestion that the unusual level of twins could be caused by an unknown pollutant pointing to the high number of healthy twins born without any deformities.

"There are lots of reasons for twins, but let me explain the underlying uniqueness of Kodinhi," said Dr Sribiju, 40.

"The number of twins per thousand here is around 45 per 1,000 births.

"Indian, and by that I mean Asian, people on the sub-continent have the lowest acknowledged incidences of twinning in the world at around four per thousand.

"In addition, there is no IVF treatment here because of the prohibitive cost. Global rates of twins being born, especially in the western world, have increased because of artificial insemination."

What is SQL Injection:

SQL injection is a technique in which an attacker try to alter the backend sql statement through your application's input. Like he/she can enter such statments in your application's input (i.e. Text box) which can alter the sql statement at your backend.

Example:

SQL injection can be explained with the help of the following example:

Suppose you have following:

A Login Page

A User table in your database.

Your application can be accessed only after entering the user name and password in the input of your login page.

Suppose there is only one user called "test" and its password is "test".

User will enter the above mentioned user name and password in login page.

The sql statement which you generate in ur login page will look some thing like that

select * from User where username = 'test' and password = 'test';

If the above statement returned a count of 1 then you will redirect user to default page of your application.

What if in the user name the attacker enter the following name

'sample' or 1=1 --

The sql statement which will be constructed will look like this:

select * from User where username = 'sample' or 1=1-- and password = 'test';

The above statement in sql will always return some result and the attacker will be redirected to default page of your application. why ? To know the reason lets digest the above statement:

The statement is self explanatory :). See that in user name the attacker has entered such info which will always be true. i.e. The attacker has basically altered your sql statement in such a way that he/she is asking for a user name where user name is 'sample' or 1=1 and commenting all statement after that. If no user with the user name of 'sample' is found then the statement 1=1 will always be true and -- will ignore the remaining statement because of --.

Note:

The attacker can also use some other statements after login. which may includes Insert,update,delete,drop etc.

How to avoid from SQL Injection:

Avoiding from SQL injection is not a rocket Science. You can do any thing from the following:

Use SP to execute your SQL statement, and do not construct the complete SQL in ur application.

Proper Validation (i.e. dont allow user to enter invalid character like -- etc)

Note:

The attacker can make different combination to attack the application, so always keep sql injecton in your mind while developing the application.

Installing and uninstalling Windows Vista for dual-boot with Windows XP

Windows operating system supports dual-booting a PC, where users can install multiple OSes and select which system to boot up to on machine startup. If you have installed Windows 7 or Windows Vista on top of current existing Windows Xp to make the PC a dual boot system, but now decided to ditch or dump the Windows 7 or Windows Vista partition to revert to the old good classic Windows XP follow the guide below to uninstall and remove Windows 7 or Windows Vista to leave only Windows XP without having to reinstall the OS, and without affecting saved files and data.

Important: Do not use this tutorial if your dualboot system is Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

Boot up and log on to Windows XP desktop.
Insert the Windows Vista or Windows 7 DVD installation disc into CD-ROM or DVD-ROM optical drive.
Alternatively, mount the Windows 7 or Windows Vista DVD ISO image on any virtual drive.
Run command Prompt, or click directly to Start menu -> Run command.
In the command prompt or the Run text box, issue the following command and hit Enter:
[DVD Drive Letter]:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force

For example,

If the DVD drive path is D:, then enter the following:

D:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force

The step will remove the boot menu to select operating system to start.
Remove the DVD disc and restart the computer.
The computer will boot up with Windows XP installation partition.
Manually remove files and folders of Windows Vista or Windows 7, including Windows, Program Files and Users folder. If you’re installing to separate partition, just format the partition to clean it instantly (with FDisk, Disk Manager of Computer Management or third party partition management Software such as Partition Magic or EASEUS Partition Manager).
On the root system folder of Windows XP, delete Boot.BAK and BootSect.BAK. The two files are remnant backup leftover files of previously installed Windows Vista or Windows 7 bootloader, but no longer useful for Windows XP only system.

Tip: NT52 is the MBR (Master Boot Record) used by Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, while Windows Vista uses NT6. So if you’re uninstall Windows 7 in Vista/7 dual boot system, change the NT52 in the command to NT60.

Fast Shortcut: It’s also possible to format the Windows Vista or Windows 7 partition straight away, and then start the computer with Windows XP Setup CD to repair the system partition, or run the “bootsect /nt52 c:” command above from the \boot\ folder of leftover OS immediately to repair the boot partition.

Tip: When startup repair the boot record after removing an installed operating system from dual-boot or multi-boot system, always use the highest version of Windows installation DVD/CD to perform the repair. For example, in a tri-boot PC with Windows XP, Vista and 7, after uninstalling Windows 7, use Windows Vista to repair the system. If the PC is restored and reverted back to Windows XP, then use the Windows XP setup CD

Isro launches desi version of Google Earth

India has come up with an alternative to Google Earth with its own satellite mapping geoportal- www.bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in - which is more precise and has the benefit of better updates.

Bhuvan, meaning earth, is the addition to the numerous scientific innovations by SAC and is a satellite mapping tool, just like Google Earth or Wikimapia, but allows you to zoom far closer than the aerial view from a chopper. If Google Earth shows details upto 200 metres distance and Wikimapia upto 50 metres, Bhuvan will show images upto 10 metres, which means you can easily see details upto a three floor high building and also add information.

The portal which would use images taken by ISRO’s series of remote sensing satellites (IRS), including Cartosat-1 and Cartosat-2, would serve the user with images having resolution up to 10 m. The portal, Bhuvan (meaning `the earth’ in Sanskrit) will provide multi-layered images and the images would be updated every year unlike Google Earth which is updated only in four years.

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Prithviraj Chavan launched the beta version of the geoportal here on Wednesday at the one-day workshop of the Astronautical Society of India.While Google Earth shares only single layer information, its Indian counterpart would share multi-layer information using the images exclusively from indigenous satellites. The images would be visible to the user both in two and three dimensions using the navigation tools provided.

An additional feature provided by Bhuvan would be allowing the user to scroll through the newspapers of selective cities across the country. As much as 16 cities across the country are available in the portal to share their news. The user can zoom on to the city of their choice to go through the local news.

The portal takes special care of urban and rural development with readily making available the details of wastelands and ground water potentials of specific locations. Details regarding soil texture, which varies with topography, also add up to the features of the new portal. Several local problems like floods, famines, infrastructure development, education and administration would be addressed in a better way through this new mapping system.

There would be enough options available for viewing filtered information with the general inputs being incorporated in the portal using the details provided by the local communities regarding a particular area. The premier space agency envisages the expansion of the portal in the future with more features planned to be added to Bhuvan in the future to make it more useful and people friendly.

Computerworld - Microsoft has acquired the office.com domain from a Brussels-based company, according to searches of Internet registration records.

The domain, which was previously registered to the ContactOffice Group, a company that hosts an online productivity and collaboration suite, was transferred to Microsoft's control on Tuesday, searches of WHOIS revealed.

Office.com currently presents a message from ContactOffice telling its users of a domain change to office.contactoffice.com, a secondary address that the European firm has had in its possession since 1999.

"As of Friday, July 31, 2009, Office.com will no longer be available," said Tom Graham, a ContactOffice employee, in the message still live on the site. Also, if you use POP or IMAP with Office.com you will need to change your settings to pop.contactoffice.net and imap.contactoffice.net respectively," Graham added.

ContactOffice did not respond to e-mails asking it to confirm the sale of the site; Microsoft was not available for comment early Thursday.

Long Zheng, who first reported on the domain name change on his Windows blog I Started Something, speculated that Microsoft will use the new domain for the upcoming online versions of its popular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote applications.

Microsoft touted Office Web last month, promising that consumers would be able to access the scaled-down applications for free. Workers at companies with Software Assurance plans in place will also be able to use Office Web free of charge.

A public beta round for Office Web is slated for later this year; the final version is to launch simultaneously with Office 2010, which is scheduled to ship sometime in the first half of 2010.

Google Microsoft rivalry has just got fiercer. Search giant Google is once again ready to take on Microsoft with its new operating system. The company announced Google Chrome OS on its blog this week, saying that the lower-end PCs called Netbooks from unnamed manufacturers will include it in the second half of 2010.

A high-stakes duel between the two technology powerhouses has been steadily escalating in recent years as Google's dominance of the Internet's lucrative search market has given it the means to threaten Microsoft in ways that few other companies can.

Google already has rankled Microsoft by luring away some of its top employees and developing an online suite of computer programmes that provide an alternative to Microsoft's top-selling word processing, spreadsheet and calendar applications. With Chrome OS, Google attempts to wrest away Microsoft Corp's long-running control over people's desktop.

Here's looking further what is Google's OS all about.

The new Google Chrome Operating System will be an open source, meaning the programme code will be open to developers. The operating system will run in a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel -- computer coding that has been the foundation for the open-source software movement for nearly two decades.

For application developers, the web is the platform. All web-based applications will automatically work and new applications can be written using users favourite web technologies. And these apps will run not only on Google Chrome OS, but on any standards-based browser on Windows, Mac and Linux thereby giving developers the largest user base of any platform.

Announcing Google Chrome OS, Sundar Pichai, Google’s vice president of product management and Linus Upson, Google’s engineering director said it would be “our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be.”

It's surely open source, but it's not Android. As Pichai and Upson wrote on Google's official blog, "Google Chrome OS is a new project, separate from Android. Android was designed from the beginning to work across a variety of devices from phones to set-top boxes to netbooks. Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems. While there are areas where Google Chrome OS and Android overlap, we believe choice will drive innovation for the benefit of everyone, including Google."

Google has already introduced an operating system for mobile devices, called Android that vies against various other systems, including ones made by Microsoft and Apple Inc.

Analysts expect Google to make the new OS free, or charge at most charge a nominal fee. They believe that the company's traditional business model has been to earn revenue off connecting applications or advertising.

1. Load in a UMD

2. Turn on the PSP, hit “SELECT” and change the “USB Device” to “UMD Disc”

3. Plug in a Mini-USB to USB cable to the top of the PSP, plug the USB cable into the computer, and Put the PSP into USB Mode.

4. The computer will read the PSP like an external harddrive. Open the drive up and drag off the ISO file inside. That is the image of the UMD disk….All done

I know there are other plug-ins that also take screen shots, but CFE did the best job IMO. The other screen shot plug-ins didnt have any notice of when the screen shots were done and makes you feel like your PSP froze. CFE has a bar that goes across the screen.

If you upgade firmware and already have this installed, go to recovery mode and make sure you re-turn on your plugins to get it to work again.

How to Hack your PSP to 5.00 M33-3 (The Easy Way)

So if you just bought a PSP and want to get into custom firmware, this is the right place to be. If you already have custom firmware on your PSP and just want to upgrade to 5.00,
skip below to the 5.00 section. If you want to bring your PSP to 4.01 M33
skip below to the 4.01 section. This works on all PSP’s that came from the factory with anything less than 4.00 Official Firmware (OFW).

Requirements for Hacking a Factory PSP:

1. PSP Pandora Battery
2. Memory Stick Pro Duo (64mb to 8gb TESTED so far – any will do).
3. psp-grader-v005-lite-setup
4. Official PSP 3.90 Firmware.

Steps:
1. Install PSP Grader on your computer.

2. Run PSP Grader and select the location of the 3.90 firmware and drive for your memory stick

3. Hit run and let the program create a “Magic Memory Stick” for you.

4. Your Memory stick is now ready, insert the Pandora’s Battery whilst holding the L should button on the PSP. Once the IPL has loaded on the PSP simply press the X button. Wait. After around 1 – 3 minutes the Flash shall be done, press X to shutdown the psp, it is now safe to remove the pandora battery. Its is very important to just wait and not switch off the PSP or remove the Memory Stick or Pandora’s Battery, it could result in a brick if you do not wait.

5. Once that is done, you can format the memory stick with your psp to use to load games. Games are normally loaded in the “ISO” folder. you need to hit select on the PSP to get the ISO mode correct. Use the “Sony NP9660″ one.

This was the easiest way I could find to get the PSP to 3.90 m33-3, from there you are going to just run one more updates to reach 5.0 m33-3

How to Update your PSP to the latest 5.00 M33-3: This Update brings 3.90 m33 and 4.01 M33 PSP’s to 5.00 M33-3

What to do:

1. Download the Official PSP 5.00 Firmware here

2. Download the 5.00 M33-3 installer

3. Unextract the files you just downloaded

4. Rename the EBOOT.PBP file from the PSP_500_FW_UPDATE.RAR to 500.PBP

5. Move the 500.PBP file into the UPDATE foler from the 5.00M33.rar

6. Copy files over to the PSP memory stick in the Games directory.

7. Run the Update Program on your PSP, NOTE: Battery has to be atleast @78%

Save money while Upgrading Windows Vista

Try as we might, there’s no stopping Windows Vista from gradually replacing our tried, true and beloved XP. Microsoft’s already phasing out XP out on all but the ultra mobile laptop market. So if you’ve already accepted the facts and you happen to be in the market for Windows Vista right now, here’s is a little secret that Microsoft doesn’t want you to know about that will save you $100 on any full version of Vista out there. For those of you who already have an older copy of Windows, be it XP, 2000, 98 or whatever, and were planning to upgrade that operating system to Vista, stop and reconsider after you get all the facts. For those of you who just built spanking new systems and want to install Windows Vista on them, you can save yourself $100.

What Microsoft doesn’t want you to know is that there is absolutely no difference between the full and upgrade editions of Windows Vista, SP1 included. Even though the end-user license agreement states, “To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade,” Windows Vista will in fact consider itself as a qualifying product. For those who were already going to buy the upgrade edition, you won’t save any money, but perhaps you may have gained an extra Windows license to use on an extra computer. Certainly a machi ne with older hardware is more suited to run an older operating system. So if I were planning an upgrade, I’d just keep the original XP installation on my machine and wait until the next time I get new hardware to install Vista. This would mean one extra machine in the house that I can use as a backup or bequeath or even sell it to someone. What I’m trying to say is, since you now know that there’s no difference between the upgrade and full Vista editions, why not treat your upgrade edition like a full edition and use it thusly?

The trick to do this is simple and still works even with the new Vista SP1:

Boot from the Vista upgrade DVD.
Select “Install Now” but do not enter in your product key and disable the option to activate next time you’re online.
Do the “Custom (advanced)” install and wait for the install to complete. The process may take a few reboots.
After the installation is done, again execute setup from the DVD, but this time make sure you’re doing it from Vista and not your PC startup. You can simply eject and reinsert the Vista DVD.
Select “Install Now” and select “Do not get the latest updates for installation.”
Now enter your product key and disable the option to activate next time you’re online.
Do the “Upgrade” install and wait for the install to complete. Do not boot from the DVD when prompted to do so. Otherwise just sit back and let the install work on its own.
After the second installation completes make sure you activate Vista since you didn’t do it during either installation

Microsoft MyPhone vs Nokia Ovi

Consumers are struggling to find an easy way to get files like photographs out of their phones to share with friends and family. Microsoft Corp's upcoming MyPhone service seems to solve the mobile industry's eternal challenge: how to make a wireless service easy to use. It may not have as much storage or as many features as the equivalent from Nokia but an early version of the service is easier to use.

Sales of cameraphones have already passed those of digital cameras, and last year alone some 700 million cameraphones were sold. But sharing the pictures requires cables (or shaky wireless connections), time and nerves.

Microsoft's MyPhone is the solution at least for users of Windows phones. It is a simple back-up service, still in limited testing, that uploads pictures and any other data from a phone to a Microsoft data center via the Internet.

Users can then log on to myphone.microsoft.com and tweak or download the pictures and data. Usage is as simple as it gets: the service works on its own, quietly downloading files when the phone is not in use.

STORAGE

To someone who has used Nokia's comparable "Share on Ovi" service since it was launched in early 2008 for storing and sharing photos, MyPhone is shocking at first: it offers total storage of just 200 megabytes. That's enough for only a few rolls of pictures with a good quality camera.

A Microsoft official plays this down, saying 200 megabytes should be enough for most users, and if demand shows more is needed, the company is flexible.

SHARING OPTION

Nokia's Share has more features than MyPhone, like links to other services and sharing options. It has no data limits apart from one that stops people downloading single files larger than 100 megabytes, big enough for a decent video recording.

But flashier outlook comes at a price. It is much more difficult to use, and it takes time.

India Unveils World’s Cheapest $10 Laptop

The ‘world’s cheapest laptop’, developed in India, was unveiled by Union Minister for Human Resources Development Arjun Singh at the Tirupati temple on Tuesday evening.

The laptop, jointly developed by several organisations, such as the University Grants Commission, the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, will be priced at around $10 to $20 (about Rs 500 to Rs 1,000), officials said. This laptop is expected to reach the market in about six months.

The project has already created a buzz in the laptop industry across the world.

The laptop has 2 GB onboard memory with wireless Internet connectivity. To make it useful for the students, especially in the rural areas, the scientists have made it low power consuming gadget.

The $10 laptop is being seen as India’s reply to One Laptop per Child’s XO and Classmate of Intel. 'Unbreakable' Encryption Unveiled

A Perfect secrecy has come more closer with the launch of the world's first computer network protected by unbreakable quantum encryption .

Quantum cryptography is completely different from the kinds of security schemes used on computer networks today.

The network connects six locations across Vienna and in the nearby town of St Poelten, using commercial fibre optic cables.

These are typically based on complex mathematical procedures which are extremely hard for people to crack

But quantum systems use the laws of quantum theory, which is supposed to be inherently unbreakable.

Anton Zeilinger, of Vienna University said : "Real breakthroughs are not found because you want to develop some new technology, but because you are curious and want to find out how the world is"

The basic idea of quantum cryptography was worked out 25 years ago by Charles Bennett of IBM and Gilles Brassard of Montreal University,,they were also in Vienna to see the network in action.

"All quantum security schemes are based on the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, on the fact that you cannot measure quantum information without disturbing it," he explained.

"Because of that, one can have a communications channel between two users on which it's impossible to eavesdrop without creating a disturbance. An eavesdropper would create a mark on it. That was the key idea."

Numerical key

From the detected photons, a totally secret numerical key can be distilled, which encodes the users' data much like the keys used in normal computer networks do.

The advantage is that no-one else can know the key without revealing themselves.

As we saw in the demonstration: when an intruder did try to listen in on the quantum exchange, photons became scrambled, and a rise in the error rate at the node detectors signalled the attack. The system automatically shut down without being compromised.

More importantly, the demonstration also showed that the network is robust.

If one quantum link breaks down, the connections can be re-routed via other nodes, much as phone calls get re-routed automatically through a telecoms network, so that any two users on the network can remain in continuous secure contact.

Dr Hannes Huebel of Vienna University, explained how robustness is now as important as security in the development of quantum encryption systems.

"We are constantly in touch with insurance companies and banks, and they say it's nearly better that they lose 10 million euros than if the system is down for two hours, because that might be more damaging for the bank," said Dr Huebel.

"So that's what we have to prove, that we have a reliable system that delivers quantum keys for several weeks without interruption, and then they might be more interested."

Polarised light

The final element of the EU-sponsored project (called SECO-QC) was the interconnection of different realisations of quantum cryptography.

There are many ways photons of light can encode a numerical key: through the direction they're polarised (like Polaroid glasses) for example, or the precise timing of their arrival.

Different schemes have different strengths and weaknesses, and a viable network would have handle whatever individual users choose to use, explained the project's director, Christian Monyk - just as a mobile phone network has to handle handsets from many manufacturers.

Quantum cryptography is a surprising outgrowth of recondite arguments that bounced around for decades about the meaning of quantum mechanics.

Albert Einstein, who discovered the quantum properties of photons of light - indeed, discovered the very concept of the photon - always resisted quantum theory's spooky behaviour, "God does not play dice", being among his oft-quoted objections.

"Real breakthroughs are not found because you want to develop some new technology, but because you are curious and want to find out how the world is," Dr Zeilinger said.

There are two steps to make this happen:

1. Set up mail forwarding or fetching
Log into your non-Gmail account and set your Gmail address as the forwarding target. If your other account doesn't offer forwarding but supports POP3 access, you can use Mail Fetcher in Gmail to automatically check your other account for new mail and download it to Gmail.

2. Set up custom "From:"
Gmail's custom "From:" feature lets you send mail with one of your other email addresses listed as the sender in place of your Gmail address. There's a good step-by-step for how to set this up in the Help Center, but the basics are adding the address you want to use and then verifying that it belongs to you. Once you have your custom "From:" set up, you can pick which address you want to reply from in the "From:" address drop down while composing messages.

Mozilla, the company behind the Firefox browser, has released technology that helps websites detect the physical location of computers.

The system will allow users, for instance, to find local restaurants when they travel to a new town.

The Geode project is an experimental add-on ahead of a full blown launch of geolocation technology in version 3.1 of Firefox.

Users will have control over how much location information they give.

It uses technology from a firm called Skyhook which works out a computer's location from nearby wireless networks.

Its so-called Loki system can determine location within seconds with an accuracy of about 10 to 20 metres.

Quality: The quality is actually pretty decent. Before you watch this release, do consider the fact that it is an INCOMPLETE VERSION OF THE MOVIE! If you need the full experience of the film, then wait for the theatrical version. There are green screens and wires attached to actors and so on still visible in this workprint. Some CGI is also incomplete, such as backgrounds and cgi models. There are no missing scenes though which is great. In any case this is a super early release.

Extend Windows Vista Trial to 120 Days

Windows Vista is the first windows operating system to let you use a trial version for 30 days before buying. It's a really great move for Microsoft, especially in light of how little benefit you get from upgrading to Vista in the first place. There's a soon to be well known trick that can extend the trial period up to 120 days.
If you right-click on the computer icon on the start menu, you'll see the basic system information window, and you'll also see the amount of days you have left to activate:

If you are not locked out of your computer
Open up an administrative mode command prompt by typing in cmd into the start menu search box, and then hit the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Enter to launch in administrative mode.

Now run this command from the prompt:

slmgr -rearm

It will take a little while, but eventually a dialog will pop up telling you to reboot. Do so, and you'll see that the activation period has been reset to 30 days.

Note that if you want to get a full 120 days out of this tip that you need to use this command on day 29 or 30 of your trial mode. You can only use this command 3 times before Microsoft smacks you down.

If you are already locked out (Reduced Functionality Mode)

You can still reactivate Vista if you have more resets left. If you've already used up all 3, then you are out of luck, but if not, you can follow these steps to unlock your computer again.

First, Open up Internet Explorer, and type C:\ into the address bar. You'll be prompted for UAC.
Now type in C:\Windows\System32\ into the address bar, and find the cmd.exe executable. Right-click it and choose "Run as Administrator".
Now use the same method as above (slmgr -rearm).
You should see the message saying that the computer is rearmed. You'll probably want to restart the computer at this point.

Getting a Trial Copy of Windows Vista

Windows Vista is the first Microsoft operating system to let you have a trial period. One of the questions that I get asked constantly is "Where do I get a copy of Vista?". This answer is less obvious.

If you have an MSDN license, you can download it from there and run it in trial mode. Most people don't have MSDN, however.

If you know somebody that has a copy of Vista, you can borrow the CD and use it to install in trial mode. As long as you aren't trying to use their serial number, there shouldn't be a problem with this.

There are various "other" ways to get a copy of the Vista CD. If you don't know what I mean, you should ask the person that everybody knows has a huge collection of downloaded content. I suspect they can hook you up, but remember it's just a trial copy. I don't advocate piracy.

Alternatively, you could buy a copy.

Addressing the 1 Year Activation Patch

There's been a debate about a 1 year activation hack that can allow you to run Windows Vista for up to 1 year without activating. As far as I can tell, this is completely bogus, and shouldn't even be attempted. Honestly, it's best to just buy a new computer with Vista already installed.

Addressing the "TimerStop" hack
There is a hack that will allow you to run Windows Vista forever without registering. This hack is obviously illegal, unsupported by Microsoft, and likely to break with future patches to Vista. I have verified that this works with some friends. Although I have not personally used it, I do not believe it should be used, and I would advise strongly against doing so.

The company has announced a new tool called Tasks that is designed to help Gmail users create their daily to-do list. Tasks sits in the same kind of Window as chats, so it visible while users read e-mail, use the search function or do other tasks, Google's Task Team said in a Gmail Blog post.

The feature, which is coming out of Google Labs, is still in the testing phase, according to a Google spokesman.

To enable Tasks, go to Settings, click the Labs tab (or just click here if you're signed in). Select "Enable" next to "Tasks" and then click "Save Changes" at the bottom. Then, after Gmail refreshes, on the left under the "Contacts" link, you'll see a "Tasks" link. Just click it to get started.

To enter a new task, users just need to click in an empty part of their list and start typing. No buttons to click and it's saved automatically. Hit Return and there's a new task right there.

Gmail users can also easily convert emails into tasks: select one or more messages and go to More Actions > Add to Tasks. (Or turn on keyboard shortcuts and use + t.)

However, there is no time frame for the new feature to be officially added (if at all) to Gmail.

Compose Gmail in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu

You would have already used Google Indic Transliteration or Transliteration Bots. Now Google has launched Google Indic Language Transliteration feature in Gmail compose window, which enables you to select Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada or Telugu from the compose box menu and start type in English.

When you compose a new mail in Gmail, you should now see an icon with an Indic character. This feature is enabled by default for Gmail users in India. If you do not see this function enabled by default, you will need to go the “Settings” page and enable this option in the “Language” section.

When you click the Indian languages icon, you can type words the way they sound in English and Gmail will automatically convert the word to its Indian local language equivalent. You can select the language of your choice from the drop-down list next to the icon.

Google New Gtalk with Google Labs

Yesterday, Google released a lab edition of Google Talk. Essentially, it’s a desktop version of the Google Talk gadget that can be added to your website.

What’s New?

Tabs, emoticons, group chat, and desktop notifications for:

Gmail
Google Calendar (with snooze option)
Orkut

Of course there’s more, which they refrain from mentioning, but what I don’t see is support for voice and file transfer that the original desktop client supports. It also doesn’t sport the AIM integration that seems to only be found in the web versions, most notably within the Gmail chat client.

Why Isn’t This In The Desktop Version?

What I don’t understand is why Google saw the need to make another version of the Google Talk client instead of integrating this stuff into the desktop client?! When is the last time that thing had an upgrade anyway? Don’t you think it’s about time to merge your clients instead of spending your 20% time over there creating new versions of Google Talk, Google?!

But if are a regular Google Talk user then please wait before installing this labs edition since it misses some important features like voice calling and file transfer.

How to deploy an iphone application without an idp membership

An iPhone Developer Program (IDP) membership (costs $99 for Individuals) is required to officially deploy your application on the iPhone – even during the development and testing. Though I have applied for the IDP membership long ago, mine is yet to be approved. Perhaps India is not a listed country for IDP.

Not having an IDP membership will not affect your iPhone development and further testing on a real iPhone. But you would still require a Jailbroken iPhone. You will have to tweak your XCode (Version 3.1.2) and individual project settings – along with the iPhone (Firmware 2.2) - to get the Applications deployed on the phone. Here are the steps. These information were collated by the results of endless queries posted on different forums and by reading various material available on the Web. All the credits are due to their respective owners :)

Common Instructions to Install :-

• Jailbreaking the iPhone requires you to follow the clear instructions given by iClarified. This includes a Video demonstration also. There is no need to Unlock your iPhone. Just Jailbreak should suffice.

• Install the iPhoneTunnel and CyberDuck applications on the Mac

• Install OpenSSH, BossPrefs and Link-Identity-Editor applications using the Cydia application on the iPhone. After installation Reboot the iPhone

• Add source in Cydia (if you have not yet done so), please remember there is a slash (/) at the end of the url Code: http://www.iphone.org.hk/apt/ . Install MobileInstallation Patch version 2.2 in Section "Tweaks"

• Connect the iPhone using the USB Cable to the Mac

• Close the iTunes.

Setting up XCode to Compile and Build the iPhone Application

• Create a Signing Identify on your Mac by following this simple guide from Apple. I suggest you name the Certificate as “iPhone Developer”

• TextEdit the /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Info.plist file to look the respective portions like:-
