Earning backlinks, improve your Page rank

First of all what’s a backlink ?

A backlink is an incoming link to a website, is any link received by a web page, directory, website, blogs etc etc… from another website. The Backlinks are also known as incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links.

What’s Page Rank ?
Simply a PageRank (PR) means the popularity of a web page used by Google Search Engine for classifying its search results. It has an important while selling links on your website, people always ask for your PR.. The problem is how to get a good one..

The best way is to gain backlinks.. But how ?

We can see lots of people sponsoring forums/blogs/websites themes and putting a link of their website in the theme (in the footer usually) the problem with that is almost all webmasters that use those themes remove all the links from the theme, even the copyrights of the designer, so it still a weak technique to earn backlinks while you spend lots of money to sponsor them.

I’ve got here 5 great techniques to gain backlinks.

1. Submitting your blog in web directories and social networks: When you submit your link in social networks they help you to get indexed in google quickly and improve your PR since every submission is a backlink. About the directories, you need to look for good ones, for directory sites that are indexed deep (with too many backlinks translated to a good PR) so it helps your PR to grow. I’d recommend submitterbot.com to do such a technique.

2. Commenting on Dofollow blogs & forums: Dofollow blogs & forums are sites that give you a backlink just for commenting on their articles and posts. (Iearn-Money is a dofollow blog by the way).

3. Buying forums users signature: Since you sponsor themes with high amounts of money, and buying links with high prices, why don’t you just buy users signatures, for example $5 a month and a minimum of 1000 posts, you earn 1k backlinks which is excelent..

4. Exchanging links with other bloggers: You can exchange links with other webmasters, they put your link on their blog and you do the same.. Better exchange links with blogs/websites that have a good PR so it help you to improve yours.

5. Buying text links or banners: Advertising on other blogs/websites is a good way to improve your PR though.. Just find a cheap advertising packages and feel free to advertise without any worries.

I still have a good technique to build strong Inbound links, but I’ll post it in a separated article, because it needs more explanation.

Note: There are nofollow and dofollow backlinks, the ones which help you to improve your PR are the dofollow ones.

To check your Backlinks, I recommend this tool: backlinkwatch.com

And good luck to everyone. Feel free to comment if you have more techniques to gain more backlinks.

How to Answer Tricky Interview Questions

How to Answer TRICKY Interview Questions

Employers use job interviews to assess the character of potential employees, so acing an interview can be a huge help when it comes to landing a competitive job. Because interviews are important, employers often test the interviewees with tough questions. Here's how to turn these questions to your advantage.

Calm down.
Before you even enter the room, make sure you are focused and relaxed.if you're already calm, great! Stay that way. Make sure you drink enough water, but don't spill any on yourself. This will keep your brain working at its best, and will also reduce the possibility of your mouth going dry.

Pause!
It may seem like an eternity of silence, but it's really only 10 seconds or so. However, be sure to acknowledge the question. Say "Wow. That's a hard question. I've got to think about that for a second.". It's much better to wait a few seconds and come up with a good answer than to plunge in blindly and say something silly.

Make a good entrance.
Come in the door smiling and confident, and make sure not to trip on anything. Your interviewer will probably shake your hand; grip firmly, but just barely gentle enough to not hurt anybody. Remember that confidence is important, but so is humility.

Be honest.
Remember, your potential employer is assessing you personally, and has interviewed many, many people in his or her career. He or she can smell a phony answer right away!

Think.
Not just on the tricky questions, but on all of them: don't open your mouth until you know exactly what you're going to say. The human mouth has an amazing ability to say something incredibly stupid at the worst possible time. Don't let this tendency take advantage of you.

Ask for clarification
Say, "I want to make sure we're both on the same page. Were you asking for [rephrase the question]?"

Pick the "best answer"
which is the response which answers the question honestly and portrays you in a good light.

Don't let your interviewer shake you.
Keep in mind that one of the purposes of the tricky questions is to make you uncomfortable. Keep your cool at all costs; you'll need it for the rest of the interview. Besides, don't forget, your performance under pressure is being tested here.

Own up to shortcomings
and offer a suggestion of how you work to improve. For example, say "I know I tend to be disorganized, so at my last job I created a filing system for myself so I wouldn't lose things on my desk."

Tips

  • Eye contact can help establish connection with your interviewer (assuming this is culturally appropriate).
  • Avoid excessive hand gestures, which can distract from what you're saying.
  • Speak slowly and clearly, as most people tend to speed up and lose clarity when nervous.
  • Don't worry about anything. Put all your worries out of your mind, or they will interrupt your focus in the middle of your interview.
  • Make sure you look professional. Give yourself some time to make sure you look perfect. Looks are an important part of making a good first impression; perhaps more important than they should be, but use this to your advantage.
  • Don't skip breakfast. Your brain will need all the help it can get.

Using Video Clips In A PowerPoint Presentation

Q: I want to put a video in a PowerPoint presentation but I don’t know how. Please help.

A: PowerPoint presentations have become a staple of the corporate culture. Inserting a video into a PowerPoint presentation is actually quite simple.

  1. First, save the video that you want to include in your presentation.
  2. Next, at the appropriate location in your presentation, select Insert, Movies and Sounds, Movie from File.
  3. A window will open allowing you to browse to the video clip that you saved earlier. Browse to the appropriate location. Click OK.
  4. A dialog box will appear asking if you would like the video to play automatically when the current slide appears. Select Yes or No.
  5. You will see the video frame on your slide. From this point, you can move the video frame around the slide much like an image. You can also resize the video frame in the same manner you would use to resize an image, but be conscious of the fact that you may distort the images in your video by resizing the frame.
  6. Preview your video in the slideshow, by selecting Slideshow, View Slideshow.

Your video should be integrated into your presentation.

Note: When you are adding a video to a PowerPoint presentation, it is important to remember that you will need to have the appropriate video format (QuickTime, RealPlayer, etc.) on all of the computers that will be using this presentation. For example, if you are using this slideshow at client sites, you may want to be sure to verify that all of the computers you will be using this presentation on have the correct player.

I hope this information helps! Thanks a bunch!

Install Windows XP Professional - New Installation

There are three reasons why you may need to install a new copy of Windows XP:

*

Your current operating system doesn’t support an upgrade to Windows XP Professional.

*

Your current operating system supports an upgrade to Windows XP Professional, but you don’t want to keep your existing files and personalized settings.

*

Your computer does not have an operating system.

The setup process is similar for new installations and upgrades with a few notable exceptions. For example, during a new installation, you are able to configure Special Options, convert your file system, and create a new partition for the Windows XP installation.

IMPORTANT
A new installation deletes all programs or system files from a previous installation.

Special Options

Under Special Options, you have the choice to change Language, Advanced, and Accessibility settings during the setup process.

Note: If you are in a country that has recently adopted the euro as its currency, you may have to modify the currency settings to display monetary amounts correctly.

For more information, go to Help and Support Center and type “euro” in the Search box.

Select

If you want to...

Language
#

Choose the primary language and regions for Windows XP, which affects the default settings for date, time, currency, numbers, character sets, and keyboard layout.
#

Choose additional language groups and character sets to use with the programs you are running on Windows XP.

Advanced Options
#

Change the default location of the Setup files.
#

Store system files in a folder other than the default (Windows) folder
#

Copy the installation files from the CD to the hard disk.

Accessibility
#

Use Narrator or Magnifier during Setup.

IMPORTANT
Unless you're an advanced user, it's recommended that you use the default settings.

Choosing a File System

During a new installation of Windows XP, you may have to choose which file system your computer should use. Windows XP Professional supports:

*

FAT32: An enhanced version of the file allocation table (FAT) system that is standard on all Windows operating systems starting with later (32-bit) versions of Windows 95. The FAT32 system can be used on large hard disks, from 512 megabytes (MB) to 32 gigabytes (GB).
*

NTFS: The NT file system (NTFS) is used with the Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP operating systems. NTFS provides enhanced reliability, stability, and security, and supports large hard disks of up to 2 terabytes (TB).

IMPORTANT
You can convert your file system any time, even after you install Windows XP, without losing any of your data.

The conversion to NTFS is one–way only; if you convert your FAT or FAT32 file system to NTFS you can’t convert your hard disk back to FAT later.

If you’re not sure which file system to use, keep the one your computer defaults to during Setup. If you want to change your file system, here are a few recommendations:

*

Use FAT32 if your hard disk is smaller than 32 GB.
*

Use FAT32 if you want to install more than one operating system on your computer.
*

Use NTFS if your hard drive is larger than 32 GB and you are running only one operating system on your computer.
*

Use NTFS if you want enhanced file security.
*

Use NTFS if you need better disk compression.

Disk Partitions

You can create partitions to organize information—for example, to back up data—or to install more than one operating system on your computer. A hard disk can contain up to four partitions.

If you’re performing a new installation, the appropriate disk partition is selected automatically during Windows XP Setup unless you click Advanced Options and specify your own requirements

For more information about configuring, sizing, reformatting, or converting disk partitions, see your current online Help before you install or upgrade to Windows XP Professional.

How To Enable Hibernation

Under Windows 98, Me, or 2000 there was an option in the shutdown dialog box to enter the computer into hibernation (where all the content of the RAM is copied to the hard disk). The shutdown dialog box of Windows XP doesn't offer any longer the hibernation button. Some users may get confused about how to enable the hibernation mode. If this mode is supported by your motherboard (ACPI) you have to do the following:

1.

Click Start and Shut Down,
2.

Point the standby button and maintain the shift key pushed,
3.

A new hibernation button appears: click it while still holding the shift key: voila your PC will hibernate.

convert a FAT partition to NTFS

To convert a FAT partition to NTFS, perform the following steps.

Click Start, click Programs, and then click Command Prompt.

In Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run.

At the command prompt, type CONVERT [driveletter]: /FS:NTFS.

Convert.exe will attempt to convert the partition to NTFS.

NOTE: Although the chance of corruption or data loss during the conversion from FAT to NTFS is minimal, it is best to perform a full backup of the data on the drive that it is to be converted prior to executing the convert command. It is also recommended to verify the integrity of the backup before proceeding, as well as to run RDISK and update the emergency repair disk (ERD).

Convert.exe will attempt to convert the partition to NTFS.

Setting up an SMS Gateway

Q: We run a small web hosting business and would like the servers to be able to alert us to their status via SMS. Is it possible to setup our own SMS gateway so we do not have to pay for an SMS provider?

A: There are a few options available that will help you with your SMS issue. Just in a google search I discovered a number of SMS server software packages that can be purchased, as well as some Open Source and Linux based solutions. There are also third party companies that you can pay to be your SMS gateway that provide a multitude of services (some more complex than what is provided by the mainstream cellular companies), and charge less than a major carrier for messaging.

* If you are interested in a small scale Open Source SMS Gateway project, visit this wiki.
* CodeSegment provides SMS Gateway Server software packages that run in Windows.
* SMSXchange provides a paid SMS gateway service with a number of options.

If you search Google for SMS Gateway you will find a number of solutions. Only you can determine which will be most reliable and cost-effective for your business.

JavaScript Errors in Internet Explorer

Q: I am running Windows XP Home Edition and I cannot access certain pages. When I click on the links on these web pages I get a “JavaScript” address in the bottom left status bar of the web browser. What’s causing this?

A: If Internet Explorer is configured incorrectly, some web pages may not load at all. First you should make sure that you have installed all of the available updates to Windows and to Internet Explorer by running Windows Update. Once you have installed all of the updates, try adjusting the Security settings in Internet Explorer.

To get to these settings click on Tools -> Internet Options and then select the Security tab and then lower the Security Level for the browser and click Apply to save the settings. While you are in the Internet Options popup you should also make sure that Javascript is enabled under the Advanced tab. Click on the Custom Llevel button and scroll down to the Scripting section. Make sure that Active Scripting is Enabled and click OK to save the settings. After you restart your browser the changes should take effect. These changes should help you avoid the vast majority of scripting errors you could encounter in Internet Explorer.

Expanding the Range of a Wireless Network

Q: Can you tell me the difference between 54Mbps and 108 Mbps? I have a dlink DWL-G630 card and am thinking a DWL-G650 card would give me a stronger signal. Is this possible and do you recommend a certain card for obtaining a stronger signal from a longer range? My router in the house is a Linksys but we would like to use the laptop from other buildings on our property?

A: The difference between 54Mbps and 108Mbps is simply the speed of transmission. If your router is capable of 108Mbps wireless data transfer, and your laptop’s wireless card is also capable of 108Mbps transfers, then your wireless data transfers should be that much faster.

The strength of the wireless signal you receive on your laptop depends on several factors. Your Wireless Access Point should be in a clear centralized location within your home, and the fewer obstructions (walls, doors, etc.) between your laptop and the access point will determine how strong the signal is. You should consult the documentation for your router to determine how far it can transmit a signal in an open area. Linksys technical support will be able to help you to determine how to expand the wireless signal across your property. This may require the purchase of additional wireless signal repeaters, antennas, or additional access points.

Download Videos From YouTube And Google

Q: I’m trying to download videos from YouTube or Google onto my laptop for presentations and cannot figure out how to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A: USE downloadyoutubevideos.com

or

It is possible to download from Google Video and YouTube using any of the three major operating systems: Windows, Mac, and Linux. Let’s assume that you are using some flavor of Microsoft Windows and examine some of the basics for downloading internet videos.

Downloading from Google or YouTube won’t work very well without using some extra tools to help you. The best kind of tools for downloading fit into a category called browser plugins. These miniature programs cooperate with your browser and are thus easy to use most of the time. If you are using the Internet Explorer browser, you might want to search the Download Managers section of Microsoft’s Add-Ons for Internet Explorer. If you would prefer to use the Firefox internet browser, you should look at Firefox Add-ons: Browse Download Management (I recommend a Firefox plugin called DownloadHelper).

Google Video videos come in a wide variety of formats. And YouTube is currently in the midst of switching its videos to a different format. To guarantee that the downloaded videos work in software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, you should probably convert them into a friendlier format. While you can certainly install a program capable of converting videos to different formats – softpedia.com is a great resource for finding such programs – these kinds of programs are often extremely complicated to configure and use. A website called media-convert.com has a very simple interface that allows you to convert videos into many formats. For most PowerPoint uses, MPEG-1 is probably the best choice for you, since works on virtually any computer in use today.

IE7 And Outlook Crash

Q: Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11 and Microsoft Outlook 2002 10.6822.6830 SP3 keep crashing. Is it because I am running Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP3 on a computer with an Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1700 MHz 1.70 GHz 384 MG of RAM? I’m afraid that my motherboard is not powerful enough and that I don’t have enough memory to run the software I have. I’m also afraid that I need to upgrade to Outlook 2007 as well as upgrade my motherboard. Thanks.

A: Hello! It seems like you are having a compatibility issue between Internet Explorer and Spybot. (I am assuming you are running Spybot, as your symptoms are exactly those caused by incompatibility between the two programs.)

This behavior is actually a “feature” of SDHelper. Basically Spybot is trying to block websites that it deems risky. The software is trying to prevent you from visiting any sites that could potentially infect your machine with malware, spyware, all of that bad stuff.

To change the behavior, you can configure Spybot in Internet Explorer. Simply access Tools, Spybot S&D Configuration, selecting “blocking confirmation.” This will set Internet Explorer to ask you about blocking sites rather than simply shutting down your browser and Outlook.

If you would rather not have SDHelper running at all (this will stop the blocked site notifications) you can disable it. To do so, access Spybot S&D, Advanced Mode, Tools, Resident. Here you can disable the Helper. Once you have done this, you will need to restart Internet Explorer to see the results.

Another thing I would be certain to do is notify Microsoft about the behavior. Since you are using SP3, which is still in Beta testing, you will want to inform them of the issue just in case it has something to do with the service pack.

I hope this information helps! Thanks!

Spyware Removal

Q: My computer continues to advise me that it has been infected with spyware and I cannot seem to get rid of it can you help me?

A: I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with spyware. Spyware (malware/viruses/Trojans) is one of the downsides of the every evolving Internet. More and more people come online every day and with this there are of course a few bad apples intent upon wreaking havoc upon Internet users of all sorts.

Your first defense against the bad guys is setting your Internet Options Security level to a High (or at least Medium) level. To do this, access Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Security tab. Click the Custom Level button. Here you will see the Settings area, which will give you various choices about your browser’s behavior on the Internet. You can change these as you see fit, but you are generally okay if you set the Reset to field to High (or at least Medium), and click Reset. Then click OK.

Next, you want to be sure that you are running security software of some sort; Norton, MacAfee, Windows Live OneCare; it doesn’t really matter what you are running, as long as you are running something. Computers usually come with a security suite pre-installed and active for a trial period. Simply purchasing a license for the pre-installed software is often the easiest way to go.

However, simply running your security software is not enough. You will need to make sure that you update it regularly, usually once a week, but more often when there is a known security threat on the Internet.

To get rid of a pesky piece of spyware, as you seem to have, download a trusted spyware remover such as Spybot. You can find this or another trusted removal tool at Download.com. Simply download the software, run as directed, and gasp at all of the things the software finds on your system. Follow Spybot’s (or other application’s) instructions to dispose of the malware.

I hope this information helps!

Thanks,

Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5, the sequel to Resident Evil 4, is the fifth game in the series. It is currently under development but people have started talking of it. What did they heard about it? Not much about the Resident Evil 5 has been yet revealed by its developer Capcom. Few details have been released about the game. The concept is believed to be similar to Black Hawk Down. The gameplay as announced by the producer, Jun Takeuchi, will be similar to Resident Evil 4. Then what else will be included in the Resident Evil 5.

It is the most anticipated game of the year and it is not going to be released in 2008 too. Resident Evil 5 was announced in 2005 but its release date is pushed forward sometime in 2009. Developers had also stated that the darkness concept of Resident Games will diminish. Players can hunt zombies in the sparkling light instead of the dark. This will be a totally new concept in the series to be introduced through Resident Evil 5. Besides zombies, two new enemies will also be introduced in the game. They will be different from zombies and ganados in the sense that they will posses more intelligence and weapons than their predecessors.

The plot of the Resident Evil 5 will be set in an unconfirmed location Africa. First human being was originated in Africa. But in game, Africa will be shown as the land where viruses were originated. Resident Evil 5 will also feature improved graphics and lightening effects. Players can go outside at different moments of the day as well as in different weather conditions. Player's ability to work in light and darkness will be based on the real human ability to work under such conditions. In Resident Evil 5, player will take sometime to adjust accordingly as the humans do.

Resident Evil 5 gameplay and controls are highly based on the Biohazard 4. Capcom will announce latest news about the game at E3 conference that is going to be held in July, 2008. There have been issues associated with the Resident Evil 5. Controversies became part of it before it is released. Resident Evil 5 came under the controversy of racial discrimination. Criticizers concerns about how white man is shown as the hero while black zombies in the African village. They believe that it is not zombie shown as black but the black Africans shown as zombies which really looks to be.

I think Resident Evil 5 like previous Resident Evil games will be a major hit for the Capcom. The game will surely demonstrate itself. Resident Evil 5, after being released, will be acclaimed by many reviewers and criticizers despite of few controversies that will become its forgotten past. I also believe that the issues of racial discrimination shown in Resident Evil 5 will just let the world know what's all happening in Africa and how the people are being treated there. We all know how dodgy AIDS or HIV could be, and through Resident Evil 5 developers have made the efforts to show the same thing. So I give full marks to the Resident Evil 5 for the efforts that it will be making to raise the personal standards of the people of Africa directly or indirectly. I hope Resident Evil 5 proves to be super hit.

Some on going rumors include that Capcom is porting the game to PC..and moreover to WII.Character insights reveal 2 new type of enemies and a female African Character lead Sheva who is an officer of BSAA devision of Africa,a force of which the main protagonist Chris Redfield , a Caucasian male lead. The return of old character Sherry Birkin is also setup in the game.A russian firm who ported Devil May Cry 4 for PC is claimed to work on the upcoming port of the famous survival horror. On vastness of game,Jun Takeuchi commented that the game constitutes of 4 times larger village area, as was in beginning of Resident Evil 4.This provides better chances of exploring, discovering new secrets and more.

As the secrets unravel,we will be there for more fun and more evil,Resident Evil…

50 COMMON INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Review these typical interview questions and think about how you would answer them. Read the questions listed; you will also find some strategy suggestions with it.
1. Tell me about yourself:
The most often asked question in interviews. You need to have a short statement prepared in your mind. Be careful that it does not sound rehearsed. Limit it to work-related items unless instructed otherwise. Talk about things you have done and jobs you have held that relate to the position you are interviewing for. Start with the item farthest back and work up to the present.

2. Why did you leave your last job?
Stay positive regardless of the circumstances. Never refer to a major problem with management and never speak ill of supervisors, co-workers or the organization. If you do, you will be the one looking bad. Keep smiling and talk about leaving for a positive reason such as an opportunity, a chance to do something special or other forward-looking reasons.

3. What experience do you have in this field?
Speak about specifics that relate to the position you are applying for. If you do not have specific experience, get as close as you can.

4. Do you consider yourself successful?
You should always answer yes and briefly explain why. A good explanation is that you have set goals, and you have met some and are on track to achieve the others.

5. What do co-workers say about you?
Be prepared with a quote or two from co-workers. Either a specific statement or a paraphrase will work. Jill Clark, a co-worker at Smith Company, always said I was the hardest workers she had ever known. It is as powerful as Jill having said it at the interview herself.

6. What do you know about this organization?
This question is one reason to do some research on the organization before the interview. Find out where they have been and where they are going. What are the current issues and who are the major players?

7. What have you done to improve your knowledge in the last year?
Try to include improvement activities that relate to the job. A wide variety of activities can be mentioned as positive self-improvement. Have some good ones handy to mention.

8. Are you applying for other jobs?
Be honest but do not spend a lot of time in this area. Keep the focus on this job and what you can do for this organization. Anything else is a distraction.

9. Why do you want to work for this organization?
This may take some thought and certainly, should be based on the research you have done on the organization. Sincerity is extremely important here and will easily be sensed. Relate it to your long-term career goals.

10. Do you know anyone who works for us?
Be aware of the policy on relatives working for the organization. This can affect your answer even though they asked about friends not relatives. Be careful to mention a friend only if they are well thought of.

11. What kind of salary do you need?
A loaded question. A nasty little game that you will probably lose if you answer first. So, do not answer it. Instead, say something like, That's a tough question. Can you tell me the range for this position? In most cases, the interviewer, taken off guard, will tell you. If not, say that it can depend on the details of the job. Then give a wide range.

12. Are you a team player?
You are, of course, a team player. Be sure to have examples ready. Specifics that show you often perform for the good of the team rather than for yourself are good evidence of your team attitude. Do not brag, just say it in a matter-of-fact tone. This is a key point.

13. How long would you expect to work for us if hired?
Specifics here are not good. Something like this should work: I'd like it to be a long time. Or As long as we both feel I'm doing a good job.

14. Have you ever had to fire anyone? How did you feel about that?
This is serious. Do not make light of it or in any way seem like you like to fire people. At the same time, you will do it when it is the right thing to do. When it comes to the organization versus the individual who has created a harmful situation, you will protect the organization. Remember firing is not the same as layoff or reduction in force.

15. What is your philosophy towards work?
The interviewer is not looking for a long or flowery dissertation here. Do you have strong feelings that the job gets done? Yes. That's the type of answer that works best here. Short and positive, showing a benefit to the organization.

16. If you had enough money to retire right now, would you?
Answer yes if you would. But since you need to work, this is the type of work you prefer. Do not say yes if you do not mean it.

17. Have you ever been asked to leave a position?
If you have not, say no. If you have, be honest, brief and avoid saying negative things about the people or organization involved.

18. Explain how you would be an asset to this organization You should be anxious for this question. It gives you a chance to highlight your best points as they relate to the position being discussed. Give a little advance thought to this relationship.

19. Why should we hire you?
Point out how your assets meet what the organization needs. Do not mention any other candidates to make a comparison.

20. Tell me about a suggestion you have made
Have a good one ready. Be sure and use a suggestion that was accepted and was then considered successful. One related to the type of work applied for is a real plus.

21. What irritates you about co-workers?
This is a trap question. Think real hard but fail to come up with anything that irritates you. A short statement that you seem to get along with folks is great.

22. What is your greatest strength?
Numerous answers are good, just stay positive. A few good examples:
Your ability to prioritize, Your problem-solving skills, Your ability to work under pressure, Your ability to focus on projects, Your professional expertise, Your leadership skills, Your positive attitude

23. Tell me about your dream job.
Stay away from a specific job. You cannot win. If you say the job you are contending for is it, you strain credibility. If you say another job is it, you plant the suspicion that you will be dissatisfied with this position if hired. The best is to stay genetic and say something like: A job where I love the work, like the people, can contribute and can't wait to get to work.

24. Why do you think you would do well at this job?
Give several reasons and include skills, experience and interest.

25. What are you looking for in a job?
See answer # 23

26. What kind of person would you refuse to work with?
Do not be trivial. It would take disloyalty to the organization, violence or lawbreaking to get you to object. Minor objections will label you as a whiner.

27. What is more important to you: the money or the work?
Money is always important, but the work is the most important. There is no better answer.

28. What would your previous supervisor say your strongest point is?
There are numerous good possibilities:
Loyalty, Energy, Positive attitude, Leadership, Team player, Expertise, Initiative, Patience, Hard work, Creativity, Problem solver

29. Tell me about a problem you had with a supervisor
Biggest trap of all. This is a test to see if you will speak ill of your boss. If you fall for it and tell about a problem with a former boss, you may well below the interview right there. Stay positive and develop a poor memory about any trouble with a supervisor.

30. What has disappointed you about a job?
Don't get trivial or negative. Safe areas are few but can include:
Not enough of a challenge. You were laid off in a reduction Company did not win a contract, which would have given you more responsibility.

31. Tell me about your ability to work under pressure.
You may say that you thrive under certain types of pressure. Give an example that relates to the type of position applied for.

32. Do your skills match this job or another job more closely?
Probably this one. Do not give fuel to the suspicion that you may want another job more than this one.

33. What motivates you to do your best on the job?
This is a personal trait that only you can say, but good examples are: Challenge, Achievement, Recognition.

34. Are you willing to work overtime? Nights? Weekends?
This is up to you. Be totally honest.

35. How would you know you were successful on this job?
Several ways are good measures:
You set high standards for yourself and meet them. Your outcomes are a success.Your boss tell you that you are successful

36. Would you be willing to relocate if required?
You should be clear on this with your family prior to the interview if you think there is a chance it may come up. Do not say yes just to get the job if the real answer is no. This can create a lot of problems later on in your career. Be honest at this point and save yourself future grief.

37. Are you willing to put the interests of the organization ahead of your own?
This is a straight loyalty and dedication question. Do not worry about the deep ethical and philosophical implications. Just say yes.

38. Describe your management style.
Try to avoid labels. Some of the more common labels, like progressive, salesman or consensus, can have several meanings or descriptions depending on which management expert you listen to. The situational style is safe, because it says you will manage according to the situation, instead of one size fits all.

39. What have you learned from mistakes on the job?
Here you have to come up with something or you strain credibility. Make it small, well intentioned mistake with a positive lesson learned. An example would be working too far ahead of colleagues on a project and thus throwing coordination off.

40. Do you have any blind spots?
Trick question. If you know about blind spots, they are no longer blind spots. Do not reveal any personal areas of concern here. Let them do their own discovery on your bad points. Do not hand it to them.

41. If you were hiring a person for this job, what would you look for?
Be careful to mention traits that are needed and that you have.

42. Do you think you are overqualified for this position?
Regardless of your qualifications, state that you are very well qualified for the position.

43. How do you propose to compensate for your lack of experience?
First, if you have experience that the interviewer does not know about, bring that up: Then, point out (if true) that you are a hard working quick learner.

44. What qualities do you look for in a boss?
Be generic and positive. Safe qualities are knowledgeable, a sense of humor, fair, loyal to subordinates and holder of high standards. All bosses think they have these traits.

45. Tell me about a time when you helped resolve a dispute between others.
Pick a specific incident. Concentrate on your problem solving technique and not the dispute you settled.

46. What position do you prefer on a team working on a project?
Be honest. If you are comfortable in different roles, point that out.

47. Describe your work ethic.
Emphasize benefits to the organization. Things like, determination to get the job done and work hard but enjoy your work are good.

48. What has been your biggest professional disappointment?
Be sure that you refer to something that was beyond your control. Show acceptance and no negative feelings.

49. Tell me about the most fun you have had on the job.
Talk about having fun by accomplishing something for the organization.

50. Do you have any questions for me?
Always have some questions prepared. Questions prepared where you will be an asset to the organization are good. How soon will I be able to be productive? and What type of projects will I be able to assist on? are examples.

Set the Speed Dial as the Opera Startup Page

Set the Speed Dial as the Opera Startup Page

If you are unfamiliar with Opera's Speed Dial, it's an extremely useful page that shows you thumbnails of sites, and allows you to quickly navigate to them using the mouse or keyboard:

Photobucket

Set Speed Dial as Opera Start Page

Open up Tools \ Preferences from the menu, and then change the Startup drop-down to "Start with blank page". (Note that this will prevent you from loading up the tabs from last session automatically)

Photobucket

Next, you'll need to click on Advanced \ Tabs and then "Additional tab options":
Photobucket

Now just make sure to uncheck the box for "Allow window with no tabs" (it may not be checked by default)

INCREASE YOUR HARDDISK SPEED

o speed up your hard disk speed we need to configure a special buffer in the computer's memory in order to enable it to better deal with interrupts made from the disk.

This tip is only recommended if you have 256MB RAM or higher.

Follow these steps:

* Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the Run command.
* Expand the system.ini file window.
* Scroll down almost to the end of the file till you find a line called [386enh].
* Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type

Irq14=4096

Note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE!!!

* Click on the File menu, then choose Save.
* Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.
* Done. Speed improvement will be noticed after the computer reboots.

The most speed improvement is visible with IDE drives, however there are reports that this tweak also does good for SCSI disks.

Recovering Scratched CD's

Recovering Scratched CD's
Here's an easy home remedy, which might give you the desired results. Rub a small amount of toothpaste on the scratch and polish the CD with a soft cloth and any petroleum-based polishing solution (like clear shoe polish). Squirt a drop of Brasso and wipe it with a clean cloth.
Technology to the rescue:
There are many softwares available on the net, which enable the recovery of the CD data. BadCopy Pro is one such software, which can be used to recover destroyed data and files from a range of media.
Just a few clicks is all it requires to recover the disc from almost all kind of damage situation; be it corrupted, lost data, unreadable or defective.
DiskDoctors is another popular company, which offers both software and solutions to recover data from a scratched CDs and DVDs

General Tips:
* Always wipe the CD from the center outward with straight spoke-like strokes. Wiping CDs in circles will create more scratches.
* Do not scratch the graphics layer as you cannot repair the disc.
HINT: Hold the disc up to a light with the graphics layer facing the light source. If you can see light thru the scratches at any point then the disc may be irreparable and or exhibit loading or playing errors.
* Clean your Disc players lens regularly with a suitable product to ensure optimal viewing pleasure.
* Make sure to use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean both sides of the disc. Wipe in a straight line from the centre of the disc to the outer edge.
* If wiping with a cloth does not remove a fingerprint or smudge, use a specialized DVD disc polishing spray to clean the disc.

Device Is Preventing The Machine From Entering Standby Mode

Q: Hello, I’m running Windows XP on a Gateway laptop and when the computer tries to enter standby mode I get the following error: The device driver for the “Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard” device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver.” I’ve tried updating the driver, uninstalling it, and reinstalling it. Nothing works. What I have noticed though is that it started when I added Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 3.0 to my computer and when I uninstall that software the error doesn’t appear. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Adobe software several times and each time the error returns. I have an HP Printer/Scanner/Copier that seems to prefer the Adobe Software for the scanning component as what came with it yet it doesn’t seem to be compatible with my laptop. Do you have any suggestions??

A: A quick search using Google reveals that Microsoft is aware of your issue. See the Microsoft article entitled “Device Driver for the Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard” Error Message When You Try to Enter Standby for more information. The basic idea of the article is that the Adobe Type Manager (ATM) sometimes conflicts with the standby function in Windows XP. Microsoft’s solution to the problem is to uninstall the ATM. So it seems reasonable that PhotoDeluxe is indeed the source of your standby problems. According to a post in the notebookreview.com forums called Standby Fails on closing the lid –says keyboard driver problem, the solution to your problem is:

1. Uninstall PhotoDeluxe.
2. (I would suggest restarting your computer)
3. Perform a customized reinstall of PhotoDeluxe without the ATM.
4. (I would restart again.)

Your computer should now go into standby mode normally. You might want to look at some of the other posts regarding Adobe PhotoDeluxe here at Ask A Geek. You might also want to consider replacing PhotoDeluxe with its successor, Adobe Photoshop Elements. Many of the features found in PhotoDeluxe still exist in Photoshop Elements.

Windows XP Computer Running Slower

Q: My computer is slowing down what do I do?

A: There are many things that could be causing your XP workstation’s performance to slow. I have several items listed below to try and help you increase the performance. The first step I would attempt is to delete any programs that you no longer use on your system by following the steps below:

1. Click Start.
2. Select Control Panel.
3. Choose Add or Remove programs.
4. Uninstall any programs that you do not need to have on the machine any longer.

The next step would be to run the Disk Cleanup utility by following the steps below:

1. Double click My Computer.
2. Right-click the Local Disk and select Properties.
3. Click the General Tab.
4. Select Disk Cleanup.
5. The program will analyze your system and find areas where items could be deleted to free space.
6. Place a checkmark next to the items that you are ok with having deleted.
7. Click Ok and wait for the system to delete these files.

If neither of these seem to have helped the next thing I would suggest is defragmenting your hard drive.

1. Double click My Computer.
2. Right-click the Local Disk and select Properties.
3. Click the Tools Tab.
4. Select Defragment Now.
5. The program will analyze your system and begin to defrag.

The last suggestion would be to check your startup items. Follow the steps below and you will get a list of applications that are set to run at system startup. If there are programs that you do not need to auto boot when the machine is turned on you will want to remove them from this list. This will not delete the program it will just keep the program from starting up when you boot thus increasing bootup performance.

1. Click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Type Msconfig and press Enter.
4. When you look at the Startup tab, you will see all the programs. Remove any that do not need to run at startup.
5. Click Apply.
6. Reboot your workstation.

Slow Computer Even After Spyware And Virus Scans

Q: I have a Dell e1505 and I have had some trouble recently with viruses spyware and other unwanted programs on my computer. I have McAfee virus scan, Spybot, and Ad-aware se and ran each program multiple times. Each time I run them they come up with new problems and remove them, but my computer still runs incredibly slow and has random erratic behavior(pop-up adds and installation programs). I was wondering if there is anything I can do myself.

A: I would recommend a pop-up blocker if you don’t already have one. On other thing I would recommend is that you install a HijackThis to get a better look at what software is running on your computer that might be doing bad things. I had similar problems and this seemed to take care of it.

Regarding the slowness of the machine. I would make sure you are also defragmenting your hard drive and running the disk clean up utility. Another good idea is to delete your temporary internet files. I hope that one of these steps helps resolve your issues. You can get more information about these steps at our Windows XP Computer Running Slow article.

Windows XP Installer Problems

Q: I recently reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro with SP2, which came bundled on a CD from the University I attend. Once I installed Windows XP Pro I ran Windows Update and ever since I have been having issues installing programs. I believe the issue is with the new Windows installer that was installed because when I try to install anything I get an error message saying, “msiexec.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close”. Is there anything I can do besides reformatting and reinstalling?

A: There is a Microsoft article entitled Error 1719: The Windows Installer service could not be accessed” error message when you try to add or remove a program. Basically, the article gives you two options. The first is to “re-register the Windows Installer.” The second option is to “Reinstall the Windows Installer. Both of these procedures are rather technical. You might find it to be less difficult to reinstall XP. Usually, I prefer to summarize Microsoft articles because it is easier for users to understand. In this case, due to the highly technical nature of these procedures, I am providing the original text. I have edited the text only slightly for clarity and to eliminate instructions not for 32-bit Windows XP:

Method 1: Re-register the Windows Installer

Verify the location of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard disk. To do so:

1. Click Start, and then click Search.
2. Click All files and folders.
3. In the File name box, type msiexec.exe and then click Search.
4. In the search results, make a note of the location of the Msiexec.exe file. The location of the Msiexec.exe file should be similar to C:\Windows\System32.

Verify the location of the Msiexec.exe file in the Windows Registry. To do so:

1. Click Start and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate, and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSIServer.
4. In the right pane, double click ImagePath.
5. In the Edit String dialog box, make sure that the string in the Value data box contains the correct path of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard disk that you determined earlier. For example, if the Msiexec.exe file is located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder on your hard disk, the correct path of the Msiexec.exe file in the Value data box is the following path [without the period], C:\Windows\System32\Msiexec.exe /V. If the Value data box does not contain the correct path, make the appropriate changes to correct the path, and then click OK. Quit Registry Editor.

Start your computer in safe mode and then register the Msiexec.exe file. To do so:

1. Shut down, and then restart your computer.
2. Press F8 [as the computer is restarting]
3. On the Windows Advanced Option menu, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and then press ENTER.
4. If you use a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the appropriate operating system from the list that is displayed and then press ENTER.
5. Log on to the computer.
6. Click Start, click Run, type msiexec /regserver, and then click OK

Shut down, and then restart your computer in standard mode [should be selected automatically during restart]. If the issue persists and you still receive the error message then follow the steps in Method 2.

Method 2: Reinstall the Windows Installer

To reinstall the Windows Installer, rename the damaged Windows Installer files, and then reinstall the Windows Installer. To do so:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3. At the command prompt, type attrib -r -s -h c:\windows\system32\dllcache, and then press ENTER [This assumes that your hard drive is letter C and the path to the Windows Installer files is C:\windows\system32].

At the command prompt, type the following lines, pressing ENTER after each line:

1. ren msi.dll msi.old
2. ren msiexec.exe msiexec.old
3. ren msihnd.dll msihnd.old

At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER. Restart your computer. Update the Windows Installer files on your hard disk to the latest version. [The latest for Windows XP appears to be Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2)]. Shut down your computer, and then restart it in standard mode.

I hope that you have had “fun” following these procedures! If either of these methods fail, it is probably best for you to reinstall Windows XP. In my experience, MSI errors usually appear after installing and/or uninstalling older versions of Microsoft Office. I recommend that you apply all updates to Windows XP before installing any programs.
